Nipah is under control in Kerala; Safe to travel
The NIPAH virus attack has been creating quite a stir in Kerala. However, many false rumours are spreading on light of the virus attack. The most important of that being advising people not to travel to Kerala. Many are trying to project the virus attack as a major outbreak in Kerala and this will ultimately affect the tourism industry as many will restrain from travelling to Kerala. However, Confederation of Kerala Tourism Industry (CKTI) conveyed that the virus attack has been projected in a larger way than the truth and assured Kerala is still a safe place to visit and travel.
The health department has assured that travelling to Kerala is safe. The few cases of infection has been reported in Kozhikode district and the virus attack is highly localised. The government is conducting surveillance at Kozhikode, Malappuram, Wayanad and Kannur. The situation is under control and they are taking effective steps for the management of reported cases. However, they added that if travellers wish to be extra conscious, they can avoid the districts under surveillance. The Kerala Governor Justice (Retd) P Sathasivam has requested the people not to panic about the news circulated regarding the virus attack. He even requested everyone to follow the advisories issued by the health department and to fully trust the efficiency of our doctors, health workers and the experts from the Government of India.
The fact is that the virus got transmitted from fruit bats at a certain place in Kerala. The health ministry and other concerned authorities have acted the best on the situation and now this is seen being under control. “All the tourist locations and the state in general are safe as usual for holiday activities. The Tourism Industry partners in the state are more vigilant and equipped to provide a hassle-free holiday to the visiting travellers. The airports, railway stations, hotels and places of visit all are following the right protocols and are free of problems as usual. For Tourism, the destination is as normal as usual. The Tourism Industry will keep you updated about the positive development of the issue. Till then, go ahead with your planning your holiday in Kerala,” said E M Najeeb, President, CKTI & Sr. Vice President, IATO.
