Kerala voted as India’s best destination for families
Laurels are always in rhyme with Kerala Tourism. Now, Kerala has been voted as the best Indian destination for families by world’s largest travel magazine Lonely Planet. Kerala was selected as the best Indian destination for families through an online poll conducted among the readers of the magazine. The award was received today by the Tourism Director Balakiran IAS at an award function held at St. Regis Hotel, Mumbai.
This is the second time Kerala is winning this award, the first one coming in 2016. Kerala won the ‘Best Destination for Romance’ for Munnar in last year’s Lonely Planet awards. “Kerala is getting ready to welcome monsoon season. Neelikurinji season and Jatayu Earth Centre are Kerala’s monsoon gifts to the world,” said Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran.
“It’s so heartening to see Kerala Tourism’s efforts are being recognized in this level. It’s a proud moment for Kerala tourism. Kerala is a destination for tourists of any age which gives hearty and rich experiences throughout the year,” said Tourism Secretary Rani George IAS.
“Kerala is a destination which gratify interests of tourists of all ages, that’s why it has been selected as the best Indian Destination for families. The ‘Come out and play’ campaign is started based on this. Vivid activities and water sports has been planned for the tourists who visit here during monsoon. We hope there will be a substantial rise in the number of tourists this year,” said Tourism Secretary Balakiran IAS while receiving the award.
Kerala recorded a steep rise of 11.39 per cent in the number of domestic tourists in 2017, while compared to the previous year. The per cent of international tourists in 2017 has increased by 5.15 per cent. Kerala Tourism’s page was ranked as the best FB page of 2017 by Facebook a couple of days ago. The awards are an indication that Kerala is loved by the tourists all over the world and will continue to flourish further in the coming years.
