Uttarakhand cabinet follows unique way to endorse tourism
The Uttarakhand cabinet followed a unique way to promote its tourism, as they met for the first time in a floating restaurant on the charming Tehri Lake. The ministers headed by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat met inside ‘Floating Marina’, the boat which served as the restaurant in the middle of the lake. The cabinet approved 12 decisions during the meeting which will enhance the state’s tourism and aid better use of natural resources.
The main decision in the meeting was to develop 13 new tourists in the state. The 13 destinations will be developed with one each in all 13 districts under the scheme ’13 districts 13 destinations’. The new destinations include Tehri lake, Surya temple at Katarmal in Almora , Satpuli and Khairasain in Pauri, Gairsain Mukteshwar Dham in Nainital, Bhararisain in Chamoli, Lakhmandal in Dehradun district as Mahabharat circuit. The other destinations are Pavan Bhoomi Shaktipeeth in Haridwar, Chirbatiya in Rudraprayag, Mori Har Doon in Uttarkashi, Gularbhoj in Udhamsingh Nagar district, Devidhura in Champavat, Garun valley in Bageshwar and Mostmano in Pithoragarh.
The meeting was conducted at the forefront of Tehri Mahostav, which will be held around the lake from May 25th-27th. The CM along with the tourism minister examined the preparations for the event and said that Tehri Lake will be promoted as an international tourist destination. The main aim is to advertise Tehri Lake among the foreign tourists while making arrangements to get a feedback from them regarding their experiences. This will help in improving the tourism around the lake. The CM also instructed the Tourism Department that the lake and surrounding areas should be always on the top of priority list.
“The government is eyeing tourism as the main source for creating employment. The main reason behind organising the cabinet meeting on Tehri Lake was to bring the lake and other tourist destinations of Uttarakhand on the world tourism map,” said CM Trivendra Singh Rawat. The other ministers who attended the event were Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, Finance Minister Prakash Pant, Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik, Forest Minister Harak Singh Rawat, Agriculture Minister Subodh Uniyal, Education Minister Arvind Pandey, Social Welfare Minister Yashpal Arya, and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya.
