Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple to be developed as a global pilgrimage centre
In an effort to uplift Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple as a global pilgrimage centre, revamp plans has been proposed by the Singapore based not-for-profit organization, the Global Citizen Forum (GCF) and its Founder-President & Global Thought Leader Dr M, adopting the values of Advaita and One World. The new plans include the overall development of the temple including restoration and the display of temple wealth with the temple premises and on shrines.
It is believed that the restored, decorated look of Sree Padmanabha deity will generate whopping revenue up to USD 1 billion every year and it’s expected to go up sequentially. The development of Thiruvananthapuram as an international city is very crucial to exploit the full potential of the centre. The revenue generated will be the primary source for developing the temple premises and providing world-class amenities to the devotees visiting the temple. The support of the government will be very vital for the development of city and temple centre, while celebrating the picturesque beauty of the capital city.
The establishment of ‘Advaita’ centre outside the temple premises will show respect to the values possessed by the deity. ‘Advaita’ means non duality and emphasises the natural godliness in everyone. The centre will become the focal point of human happiness. The Advaita centre will be beyond gender, religion, nationality and boundaries and will serve as a learning centre for Hindus and non-Hindus, globally and in India.
Dr M mentioned that he wished to Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple as a global pilgrimage centre for Hindus, like Mecca is for Muslims and Vatican City for Christians. “In keeping with the tradition of the Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple, GCF believes that the deity has the first and exclusive right to the temple wealth. It is our conviction to ensure that the wealth of the temple is used in the service of the deity and to this effect it should be displayed within the temple premises and on the shrines. The GCF is representing the aspirations of global Hindus who want to witness the development of the Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple,” he added.
The plans will be only executed subjected to the approval of the honourable Supreme Court of India and the agreement of the Royal Family of Travancore. The Global Citizen Forum was founded in 2012 with the purpose of forming One World beyond gender, religion, nationality and boundaries. The GCF has conducted many events across the globe in parts of Asia, Europe, United Nations, North America and South America.
