Indian travellers focus on sustainable tourism: Survey report

As per the survey conducted by Booking.com, about 97 per cent of the Indian travellers focus on sustainable travel approach. The survey further shows that the tourist wasn’t back off to pay the additional cost for their holidays, that supports sustainable practices in accommodation and transportation.

The term sustainable tourism itself is a concept that puts a strong positive impact on environment, society and economy. Sustainability also has a strong part in mobility and hospitality, as more and more green protocols are initialized in the sector.

On the other hand, Aviation on its part, is reducing the C02 emission through strong policies from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Tourism stakeholders and government from their part are also funding new programmes, which puts a strong shield to the environment.

The survey concluded saying that most of the Indian travellers found a positive experience on sustainable approaches, like choosing eco-friendly accommodations over traditional hotels that further heal the Mother Nature from the severe wound placed by the humans.

“Sustainable travel is a subjective term that has different connotations for different people. Indian travellers are increasingly looking to explore and experience the world in a sustainable way. This research reaffirms that sustainable travel is within reach for all of us, which is encouraging,” said Vikas Bhola, Head of Booking.com India.
