Asia’s biggest lake festival to be held at Uttarakhand in May
The much awaited 3-day water sports and cultural event, the Tehri Lake festival, is scheduled to be held from 25 to 27 May 2018. The lake festival, which is organized by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB), will have hosts of activities and events including water and aerial sports.
Visitors can enjoy water sports such as boating, jet skiing, banana rides, water skiing, surfing, canoeing, river-rafting, paragliding, kayaking etc. Aerial sports such as paragliding, hot air balloon, para-jumping will also be part of the festival.
Every year Uttarakhand Tourism organizes Tehri Lake Festival where one can find non-stop action blended with unspoilt nature! The inaugural day will have a light and sound show and a performance by Garhwali singer. The second and third day will have morning yoga sessions which starts at 8 am. A fashion show and celebrity show is organized on day 2 of the event. The event also features Uttarakhand jewellery and artefact competition, heritage of Tehri exhibition, adventure theme based photo booths, food court, water sports joy rides, a handicraft village with live craft making, a photo exhibition on old Tehri and Tehri adventure will also be featured as part of the event.
Tehri is an administrative seat of Tehri Garhwal district and is rapidly developing into a major tourist destination with great potential for tourism and hospitality industry. Tehri Dam, an engineering marvel and one of the world’s largest hydroelectric projects, is the pride of Tehri. The ruins of Old Tehri lies under water today. New Tehri is a modern town spread over an altitude from 1550-1950 mts above sea level overlooking the gigantic lake and Tehri Dam. Tourist can easily reach Tehri via Delhi or Dehradun and Haridwar.
