Maldives to launch world’s first under sea villa
Conrad Maldives resorts are on a new mission to build world’s first undersea villa located at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island in the Maldives.
The $15 million invested two-storeyed villa named as ‘Muraka’ is housed 16.4 ft below the Indian Ocean. Additionally, the property consists of a gym, bar, ocean view bathtub and an underwater bedroom floor. The top layer of the structure has a relaxing space that measures over 550 sq meters.
“We are excited to present Muraka’s unique sleeping under the sea experience to our future guests, providing them with an extraordinary seascape of the Maldives from an entirely new perspective,” said Stefano Ruzza, General Manager, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.
Designed by M.J Murphy who is a pioneer in undersea architecture, from New Zealand, the structure can hold over 9 people at a time. Even though there host a couple of undersea aquariums and rooms in Dubai and Singapore, Muraka will be the most advanced in terms of functionality. The project is expected to open by the end of 2018.
“Through our rich history of being a trailblazer in innovative luxury hospitality, we are proud to remain at the forefront of cutting-edge design, technology and architecture,” said Ahmed Saleem, chief architect and designer Muraka.
