Jetstar to fly between Brisbane and Uluru from August

Budget Carrier Jetstar will fly between Brisbane and Uluru commencing 3 August 2018. Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) welcomed the Jetstar announcement of three times weekly flights to Uluru.

The new flights operating on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays will inject more than 55,000 return seats into the market each year, enhancing Brisbane’s regional reach and providing a convenient gateway for international travellers to Australia’s world renowned Uluru.

Accommodating both point-to-point traffic and domestic connections, the flights are also timed to connect with a number of international arrivals across BNE’s network.

Julieanne Alroe, BAC CEO and Managing Director, praised the collaborative approach taken by industry partners, saying BAC was pleased to again work closely with partners Jetstar and Tourism and Events Queensland in securing the new flights.

“New services do not appear like magic and it takes a lot of time and negotiations to ensure a route is viable and sustainable. Having convenient direct flights to more iconic domestic destinations will encourage more and more international visitors to choose Brisbane as their preferred gateway to Australia. We also know that international passengers who arrive in Australia through Brisbane Airport stay far longer in Queensland than if they came in through any other airport in Australia. When they stay longer they travel further throughout Queensland – to Cairns and the Tropical North, to the Gold Coast, to the Whitsundays and up the road to the Sunshine Coast. This is why it’s important to work together and to celebrate each new service, as every additional flight brings with it a raft of benefits for the city and state, as well as Australia’s regional centres,” said Alroe.

“The announcement was another win for Tourism in Queensland and would support up to 100 jobs a year. Through the Queensland Government’s Attracting Aviation Investment Fund we’ve partnered with Jetstar to secure this new route and give thousands of tourists’ direct access to Brisbane from Uluru,” said Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones.
