First space hotel will be ready by 2021
Houston-based technological innovation company Orion Span, headed by CEO Frank Bunger is about to install world’s first luxury space hotel into orbit by 2021.
The hotel named Aurora Station upon completion can accommodate 4 tourists for over 12 days. The hotel structure would be 43.5ft long similar to that of a private jet cabin, that revolves around the earth’s orbit.
“Upon launch, Aurora Station goes into service immediately, bringing travellers into space quicker and at a lower price point than ever seen before. Our goal is to make space accessible to all, by continuing to drive greater value at a lower cost,” said Frank Bunger, CEO and founder.
The 12-day stay is not that much cheaper according to the CEO. About $800,000 per night is the rate fixed by the company. The hotel’s major advantage includes a bird’s eye view of the magnificent Earth, along with all the modern amenities. Guests can enjoy food in zero-gravity, virtual reality, and a high-speed internet connectivity.
According to media reports, Orion Span will associate with major key players in the space mission programs like Blue Origin, SpaceX, or Virgin Galactic to commute tourist to the destination safely. Interested travellers can pre-book their seat on the Aurora Station for a refundable $80,000.
