Colva beach listed under iconic site project
The Union Ministry has listed Goa’s Colva beach under the ‘Iconic Tourist Site Development Project’, for the most-frequent tourist spot in the state. The new title would thus ensure a major tourism-oriented infrastructure development to the beach.
Meanwhile, Colva beach in Goa becomes the only beach destination among other 12 sites across India. The project aims at community development, employment generation and would develop the existing local culture and heritage.
“The thrust in the project will be community involvement and local participation in making the project a success. A master plan would be put in place to develop Colva beach as an iconic tourist site,” said Rashmi Verma, Union Tourism Secretary.
