Fourteen new e-toilets to come up in Pune

As many as 14 e toilets would be installed across 11 locations in Pune, for which the Municipal Corporation has sanctioned a sum of over Rs 1.99 cr to build the e toilets. The toilets will work as a vending machine in which users can drop coins to make use of the facility. The new project was launched by MP Anil Shirole.

The modern e-toilets has additional features that include napkin dropper, baby diaper changing rooms, mobile charging points and voice-assisted command systems.

Moreover, each toilet is technically connected over a network, that enhances real-time monitoring of the hygienic status of the toilets. The  project will come under the Swachh Bharat Mission that ensures Open Defecation Free status for the city.

According to the project proposal, a private construction team pioneered in construction would be chosen for the respective works. Additional maintenance cost of the e-toilets would be around Rs 11,000 and Rs 8,000 per month. The toilets are worth at Rs 9.96 lakh per seat.
