Twitter with a new emoji
American social networking site Twitter introduced a new exclusive emoji that represents India Gate on Wednesday, as part of the Republic Day celebrations.
“The emoji that is limited till January 29, would be a symbolic representation that reminds the unity and prosperity of the country,” said Mahima Kaul, Head of Public Policy and Government, Twitter India.
The emoji also has a unique implication on Prime minister’s visit to Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate for paying honour to the martyrs before the parade.
As the Twitteratis took the new option by storm started tweeting #RepublicDay, #HappyRepublicDay and #RepublicDay2018 in combination with the new emoji.
The 69th republic day celebration includes 10 ASEAN leaders (heads of state from Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and Brunei) as special guests.
Defence Minister tweeted saying “#RepublicDay Parade will showcase might of the Indian armed forces and indigenously developed defence equipment along with the country’s cultural heritage”.
