Goa ready for Food & Cultural Fest 2018
Goa is all geared up for ‘Saraswat Food and Cultural fest 2018’, a festival that is held annually to celebrate the cultural harmony of Gaud Saraswat Brahmins of Goa.
The 3-day event will be held at BPS Clube Ground, Margao from 26 to 28 January. The organisers of the event are Mathagramasth Saraswat Samaj. The event will be inaugurated by Digambar Kamat, MLA of Margao constituency, it would be a mesmeric platform for Goan’s to demonstrate their talents as it is conducted in different taluks across Goa.
People from any age group can participate in the competitions. There will be unique competitions which will be held on stage and off stage.
Off stage competition items are live cooking competition, online selfie contest, wonders from waste, Saraswat Master Chef, jumbled words competition, gift box wrapping out of men shirt boxes (25 years and above), idioms in Marathi and Konkani, nail art, T-Shirt painting on the theme ‘Green Goa’, Halli making using fresh flowers and banana strings, painting competition, drawing competition and healthy baby.
On stage competition includes dance competition, singing competition, fancy dress competition, just 30 seconds, Saraswat Kumar/ Kumari (8 to 15 years), Miss Saraswat and Mr Saraswat (unmarried), Mr and Mrs Saraswat (for married Saraswat couples) and Saraswat fashion show.
Every year the organisers used to follow a naming pattern from renowned Goan personalities and for this time they named Madhavi Sardesai (writer) as the stage name and the gate name in memory of late footballer Rekha Kamat Karapurkar.
Closing ceremony will be presided by Vijai Sardesai, Minister for Town and Country Planning.
